My name is Jim Oleksy and I am president of LLPOA. I hope I can answer your questions. We are a new administration less than one year old. I believe everything we do is in line with our bylaws. Every Monday night I open my home to the lake community for weekly meetings but sadly only the 7 or 8 dedicated board and committee members ever come.
Last year only 118 of over 650 family’s paid the maintenance fee. That came to $5900.00. Our taxes, insurance and utility’s came to almost $5200.00.
Our problem is little interest in the lake by our community. On the night I was elected president, we had to call people by cell phone and beg them to come and vote so we would have 12 voters as the bylaws state. It almost did not happen. Last year 7 of us walked the mailers door to door because we did not have the money to mail them out.
I assure you that our books are open and we plan to post them on our web site. We welcome all input as to how to get our community interested. We need a minimum income of $15,000 to $18,000 to open the lake for swimming, treat the water and pay our bills.
I invite you to our 7:30pm weekly meetings on Mondays at my home, 115 Claremont Terrace any help or input is deeply appreciated. If you can’t make a meeting, feel free to send an email to lionsheadlake@gmail.com and I will do my best to answer your questions and accept your input.
Thank you,
Jimmy
We are now collecting LLPOA maintenance fees for 2014.
2014 maintenance fees: $75 for the year. This fee helps to pay taxes, insurance, electricity, water, etc. and general maintenance around the beach and clubhouse and also to repair vandalism, unfortunately not enough families pay the maintenance fees. Sadly we had to increase the fee by $25 (its been $50 since the 1980’s).
Thank you for your support. We are trying the best we can with little help and funds. We are a small group of people that care very much to try to save the lake, but its tough, we all have our own lives and jobs so its not easy, but we do this in what time we have because we love Lionshead Lake. Please come to any Monday night lake meeting (7:00 pm) to help. If you can’t make the Monday meetings come down on the weekends in the spring to help us clean up and we would love to meet and talk to you.
We’re trying. Please help save our lake.
Thank you
Just wanted to remind everyone that homeowners need to keep the sewers out in front of their homes clear of leaf and garbage debris. All that goes down into the sewer will eventually make its way into the brooks and the nearby lake. Even cigarette butts do their damage to the environment.
As stated in Positive News: “What starts out as grimy street litter eventually finds its way into storm drains…. Cigarette filters are made of a plastic called cellulose acetate that doesn’t biodegrade. Birds and fish eat them and eventually starve to death because their stomachs are full of plastic. To make matters worse, one unfiltered cigarette butt has the toxicity to kill half of the fish in a one-liter container of water, according to a recent study by San Diego State University.”

The South Mountain Blues Band is a Blues and Classic Rock band.
Come on out and show your support for the lake.
Even though the water won’t be available for swimming, we are planning on opening the beach for maintenance paid members for sunbathing or just hanging out and enjoying the new sand.
Here is the opening schedule:
Saturday August 3, 10 & 31st from 12:00 – 4:00 pm
Bring your beach chairs, umbrellas, beach toys and enjoy the beach.
For those of you that paid the full swimming fee (over the maintenance fee) we are in the process of returning your money. We tried our best to open for swimming this year, but with only 6 – 8 people helping with all the work that needed to be done, and not enough residents paying their maintenance fees (and even less paying the swimming fee) we couldn’t do it.
We sent out mailers, emails, have gone door to door for maintenance fees, etc. but unfortunately it wasn’t enough. We aren’t ready to give up and are still hoping to get the Lionshead Lake residents to come together to bring back the feeling of a lake community so that families will know who their neighbors are and children will have fond memories of growing up at Lionshead Lake.
We have our meetings every Monday at 7:00pm on the beach, come on down.
